Hot Chocolate Overnight Oats

Hot Chocolate Overnight Oats

Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate Overnight Oats

Chocolate for breakfast, prepared the night before, and waiting for you in the fridge by morning.

Some breakfasts require frying pans, mixing bowls and a fair amount of effort.

This is not one of them.

Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate Overnight Oats are creamy, chocolatey, filling and incredibly easy to prepare. Simply mix everything together in the evening, pop it into the fridge, and breakfast is ready when you wake up.

It is a brilliant option for busy mornings, meal prep, school lunches, workdays or anyone who believes breakfast should involve more chocolate.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 1½ tablespoons Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup plain or vanilla yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds, optional
  • Pinch of salt

For Serving

  • Banana slices
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Chocolate chips
  • Chopped nuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Granola
  • A light dusting of Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder

Method

1. Add the rolled oats, Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder, chia seeds and salt to a jar or container with a lid.

2. Add the milk, yoghurt, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla essence.

3. Stir everything together thoroughly until the Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder is evenly mixed through the oats.

4. Cover the container and place it in the refrigerator overnight, or for at least 4 hours.

5. In the morning, give the oats a good stir.

If the mixture is thicker than you prefer, simply add a splash of milk until you reach the consistency you like.

Now Add the Good Stuff

This is where you can turn a simple jar of overnight oats into something considerably more exciting.

Try topping it with:

  • Fresh banana
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Chocolate chips
  • Chopped almonds or hazelnuts
  • A spoonful of peanut butter
  • Crunchy granola
  • A little extra Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder

You can also layer the fruit and oats in a clear jar for a breakfast that looks almost too good to be meal prep.

Chocolate & Peanut Butter Overnight Oats

Chocolate and peanut butter were always going to find each other eventually.

Add approximately 1 tablespoon of peanut butter to the mixture before refrigerating.

For an extra treat, add another small spoonful on top just before serving.

A few banana slices finish it off beautifully.

Rescue Roast® Mocha Overnight Oats

Naturally, there is a coffee version too.

Replace approximately ¼ cup of the milk with cooled, strong Rescue Roast® coffee.

The result is a creamy chocolate-and-coffee breakfast with a delicious mocha flavour.

Which means you can technically have Rescue Roast® in your breakfast and in your coffee cup at the same time.

We see absolutely no problem with this arrangement.

Make a Few at Once

One of the best things about overnight oats is that you do not have to make only one portion.

Prepare several jars at the same time and keep them refrigerated for easy breakfasts over the next few days.

Leave the fresh fruit and crunchy toppings off until you are ready to eat so that they stay fresh.

That means less rushing in the morning and more time for the important things.

Like coffee.

Turn It Into Dessert

Yes, we know this is technically breakfast.

But add a few extra chocolate chips, some whipped cream and crushed biscuits and suddenly it starts looking remarkably like dessert.

We are not going to report you.

250 g or 500 g?

Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate is available in both 250 g and 500 g bags.

The 250 g bag is perfect for mugs of hot chocolate and trying a few recipes from the Rescue Roast® Academy.

If Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate has now found its way into your puddings, cakes, cookies, cheesecake, pancakes, French toast and breakfast oats, however...

The 500 g bag may be the more practical choice.

Breakfast Just Got More Interesting

We have officially reached the point where Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate is no longer simply a drink.

It has become a baking ingredient.

A dessert ingredient.

And now, apparently, a breakfast ingredient too.

Chocolate overnight oats waiting in the fridge when you wake up?

We can think of considerably worse ways to start the day.
