Hot Chocolate Tiramisu Cups

Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate Tiramisu Cups

Chocolatey, creamy, coffee-kissed and ridiculously easy to serve.

Tiramisu is already one of those desserts that feels a little fancy without needing to be complicated.

So naturally, we decided to give it the Rescue Roast® treatment.

These Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate Tiramisu Cups combine layers of coffee-soaked biscuits, a smooth mascarpone-style cream and a generous helping of Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder.

The result is rich, soft, creamy and perfect for making ahead.

Ingredients

For the Coffee Layer

  • 1 cup strong brewed Rescue Roast® coffee, cooled
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

For the Cream Layer

  • 250 g mascarpone or smooth cream cheese
  • 250 ml fresh cream
  • ⅓ cup icing sugar
  • ⅓ cup Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

For Layering

  • 200 g finger biscuits or plain sponge biscuits
  • Extra Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder for dusting
  • Chocolate shavings, optional

Method

1. Brew a strong cup of Rescue Roast® coffee and allow it to cool completely.

2. Stir in the brown sugar and vanilla essence if using.

3. In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone or cream cheese until smooth.

4. Add the icing sugar, Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder and vanilla essence.

5. Mix until completely smooth and chocolatey.

6. In a separate bowl, whip the fresh cream until soft peaks form.

7. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mascarpone mixture.

Try not to overmix. Keeping the mixture light gives the finished dessert a lovely soft texture.

Time to Assemble

8. Break the finger biscuits into pieces that fit your serving glasses or jars.

9. Dip each piece briefly into the cooled Rescue Roast® coffee.

Do not leave them soaking for too long or they may become too soft.

10. Add a layer of coffee-soaked biscuits to the bottom of each glass.

11. Spoon or pipe over a generous layer of the Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate cream.

12. Repeat with another layer of biscuits and another layer of cream.

13. Finish with a generous dusting of Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder.

14. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

For the best flavour and texture, make them the night before and leave them chilled overnight.

Make It Look Fancy

Just before serving, add:

  • Chocolate shavings
  • A little whipped cream
  • Chocolate curls
  • A few chocolate chips
  • An extra dusting of Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder

Clear glasses work particularly well because you can see all those beautiful chocolate and coffee layers.

No Mascarpone? No Problem.

If mascarpone is not available, smooth full-fat cream cheese works beautifully too.

Just make sure it is softened before mixing so that your filling stays creamy and lump-free.

Make It Extra Chocolatey

If you would like to take things further, add a little melted chocolate to the cream mixture.

Approximately 80–100 g of cooled melted chocolate will make the filling even richer.

You can also scatter chocolate chips between the layers.

Subtle?

No.

Delicious?

Absolutely.

Rescue Roast® Mocha Tiramisu

This recipe is already sitting very comfortably in mocha territory because it combines Rescue Roast® coffee and Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate.

But if you want an even stronger coffee flavour, use an extra-strong brew for dipping the biscuits.

The combination of coffee, chocolate and creamy filling works beautifully.

Make One Big Dessert

You do not have to make individual portions.

Layer everything into one medium-sized serving dish instead.

Add the coffee-soaked biscuits first, then the chocolate cream, and repeat.

Finish with Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate powder and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Then simply scoop generous portions straight from the dish.

Perfect for Entertaining

This is one of those desserts that makes hosting considerably easier.

You can prepare it ahead of time.

There is no last-minute baking.

There is no complicated plating.

And it actually improves after spending a few hours in the fridge.

That is exactly the sort of cooperation we appreciate from a dessert.

250 g or 500 g?

Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate is available in both 250 g and 500 g bags.

The 250 g bag is perfect for enjoying as a traditional hot chocolate and experimenting with the occasional Academy recipe.

But if your bag is now responsible for brownies, fudge, truffles, lava cakes, milkshakes and tiramisu...

The 500 g bag is starting to look like a very sensible kitchen investment.

Coffee Meets Hot Chocolate

Rescue Roast® coffee.

Rescue Roast® Hot Chocolate.

This may be one of our favourite combinations yet.
