Rescue Roast® Signature Blend Coffee Truffles

Rescue Roast® Signature Blend Coffee Truffles

Rich chocolate truffles with a smooth coffee kick.

These Rescue Roast® Signature Blend Coffee Truffles are simple, indulgent and perfect for anyone who loves the combination of dark chocolate and good coffee.

They are soft and creamy inside, intensely chocolatey, and finished with just enough coffee flavour to make them feel grown-up without becoming bitter.

They are also ideal for entertaining, gifting or keeping in the fridge for those moments when you want something small but seriously satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 250 g good-quality dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 120 ml whipping cream
  • 45 ml strong freshly brewed Rescue Roast® Signature Blend coffee
  • 20 g butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For Coating

  • Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Finely grated dark chocolate
  • Crushed roasted nuts — optional
  • Desiccated coconut — optional

Method

1. Prepare the Chocolate

Place the finely chopped dark chocolate into a heatproof mixing bowl.

Chopping the chocolate into small pieces helps it melt evenly when the hot cream is added.

2. Brew the Coffee

Prepare 45 ml of strong Rescue Roast® Signature Blend coffee.

The coffee should be concentrated enough to bring real flavour to the truffles without adding too much liquid.

3. Heat the Cream

Pour the whipping cream and brewed coffee into a small saucepan.

Heat gently until the mixture is steaming and just beginning to simmer around the edges.

Do not allow it to boil vigorously.

4. Make the Ganache

Pour the hot cream and coffee mixture over the chopped chocolate.

Leave it undisturbed for approximately 2 minutes.

Then stir gently from the centre outward until the chocolate has completely melted and the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.

Add the butter, vanilla extract and pinch of salt.

Stir until fully incorporated.

5. Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl and refrigerate the ganache for approximately 2 hours, or until it is firm enough to scoop and roll.

If the mixture becomes too hard, leave it at room temperature for a few minutes before shaping.

6. Shape the Truffles

Use a teaspoon or small scoop to portion the chilled ganache.

Quickly roll each portion between your palms to form a ball.

Do not worry if they are not perfectly round. Handmade truffles are supposed to look a little rustic.

7. Coat the Truffles

Roll each truffle in your chosen coating.

Classic cocoa powder works beautifully, but grated dark chocolate, crushed nuts or coconut can add different flavours and textures.

Place the finished truffles on a lined tray or plate.

8. Chill and Serve

Return the truffles to the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

For the best texture, allow them to stand at room temperature for approximately 5–10 minutes before eating.

Rescue Roast® Tip

The quality of the chocolate makes a noticeable difference in a recipe this simple.

Choose a good-quality dark chocolate that you would happily eat on its own.

A cocoa content of around 60–70% works especially well with the smooth character of Rescue Roast® Signature Blend.

Make Them Your Own

Once you have mastered the basic truffle recipe, there are plenty of ways to experiment.

  • Add a splash of Amarula for a creamy adults-only version.
  • Add a teaspoon of orange zest for a coffee-and-orange truffle.
  • Roll them in crushed hazelnuts for extra crunch.
  • Coat them in cocoa powder mixed with a little cinnamon.
  • Dip the chilled truffles in melted dark chocolate for a crisp shell.

Perfect for Gifting

These coffee truffles make an easy homemade gift.

Place them in small paper cases and pack them into a gift box or jar.

Keep them refrigerated until shortly before gifting, especially in warmer weather.

Why Signature Blend Works So Well

Dark chocolate and coffee share naturally complementary roasted, caramel and cocoa characteristics.

Rescue Roast® Signature Blend adds depth and warmth to the ganache while allowing the chocolate to remain the dominant flavour.

The result is not a sweet pretending to taste like coffee.

It is simply chocolate made better with a little excellent coffee.

Small enough for one bite. Good enough to make you reach for another.
