The Society for Animals in Distress

The Society for Animals in Distress, better known as SAID, has been working to improve the lives of animals and the communities around them for decades.
Based in Midrand, SAID provides professional veterinary care to pets and working animals, with a particular focus on communities where access to veterinary services may otherwise be limited or completely out of reach.
Their work combines hands-on veterinary treatment with mobile outreach, preventative healthcare, education and dedicated care for working animals.
At their Midrand facility, a professional veterinary team operates from a purpose-built animal care centre with veterinary facilities, kennels, equine facilities and paddocks. Beyond the hospital itself, SAID takes veterinary care directly into surrounding communities through its mobile clinic programme.
The organisation also works with working horses and their owners, providing veterinary treatment and practical education aimed at improving long-term animal welfare.
