About Animal Ambulance

Animal Ambulance is a 24-hour emergency centre and shelter in Pretoria, stepping in for the animals who need help most — the sick, the abused, the ones whose lives hang in the balance.

Since 2002, they’ve been answering those calls with compassion and courage. As a registered non-profit organisation, they receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of donors and supporters to keep their doors open and their lights on.

Their mission is simple but powerful: to give suffering animals a fighting chance. To ease pain. To offer urgent medical care. To provide safety where there was none. Animal Ambulance believes every life is worth saving, and they operate as a pro-life shelter — choosing hope, even in the hardest cases.

Due to limited space and their emergency focus, they are not able to take in stray or unwanted pets, but they guide the public toward the appropriate organisations when needed. Their work is focused, specialised, and deeply intentional.
