About Rest Ur Ass Donkey Sanctuary

Rest Ur Ass Donkey Sanctuary is a heartfelt refuge devoted to giving neglected, abused, and abandoned donkeys a second chance at life. Located in the South African countryside, this nonprofit organization provides a forever home where donkeys can heal, thrive, and live out their days surrounded by love, dignity, and open space.

With a name that reflects both humor and honesty, the sanctuary offers more than rest—it offers restoration. Each donkey that finds safety here carries a unique story, and through dedicated care, those stories are rewritten with gentleness, laughter, and plenty of braying.

The mission of Rest Ur Ass is to raise awareness about the plight of donkeys across the country, provide permanent sanctuary to those in need, and inspire compassion through education and outreach. Visitors and volunteers alike are welcomed into a community built on kindness, resilience, and a deep respect for these often-overlooked creatures.

At Rest Ur Ass, it’s not just about rescue—it’s about creating a space where love never hurries, healing takes its time, and every ass is cherished.

Such a good cause! The various animal charities are so well served - what a great idea! Very good service, my order had to be amended and Tania was able to change it immediately, despite it being the weekend and after-hours, thank you! The coffee and Hot Choc was much appreciated by the family.
